Pluralism of Religion: All religions are same?

Nowadays, we as a society have highlighted the problem of the conflicting truth - claims of the different religions. The theme of religious pluralism is taking an increasingly important in our life as we live in religious diversity which is on the rise in all societies. John Hick in his book, Problems of Religious Pluralism said that pluralism is the view that the great world faiths embody different perceptions and conceptions of, and correspondingly different responses to, the Real or the Ultimate from within the major variant cultural ways of being human; and that within each of them the transformation of human existence from self-centredness to Reality centredness is manifestly taking place - and taking place, so far as human observation can tell, to much the same extent.

So, we can not say that Christian or Hindu is the only way to find the truth. We always hear that good people can not enter into heaven, if they are not one of us.

Pluralism is viewing that all religions are same, so where is the unique of religions?
In theological terms, there are many ways of thinking about difference. For the exclusivist, our religious tradition is true, exclusive of others. Our God simply does not regard the prayer offered in another voice. For the inclusivist, our religion is true, inclusive of others. Of course, God listens to the prayers of others, but it is ‘‘our God'' who does the listening. For the pluralist, there is no such God as ‘‘our God.'' We may presume that the one we call God is listening, but we do not presume that our understanding of God is complete or encircles the reality of God. We need to listen carefully to the distinctive voice of the religious other, which is not simply an echo of our own. The challenge is to encounter the faith of the other without first erecting walls against them.

If religions have their own salvation and the salvation is true like other religions. If we say all religion is same, then why we still stand to believe in our religion, why we do not choose or change other religion? why we worship God through our faith in religion? if all religion is same , why we need religion to worship God? so why I defend my faith in my religion, if other religions have salvation too? it is simple, why I should believe in my religion, if your religion have salvation too.

The idea of pluralism of religion is totally weird. It blends all religion to be one that religions response God in different ways. How we can say that Hindu's God and Christian's God is totally same? Why pluralism of religions force us to be same. There are some people  will make new religion that worship a car or train, should we think they response to God in different way? Should we think that their worship is same like Christian worship God?

For me, the main idea of pluralism is when we as people not force someone to believe our faith, because we live for the face of God, we do not feel resentment toward others, and this reduces conflict in society. Indeed, it makes us more aware and tolerant of others, regardless of creed. Pluralism is about tolerance. Tolerance does not demand that we all become same. Real tolerance means accepting others, other groups, the existence of other religions. Acknowledging and respecting their existence in their own disparity. Tolerance is not exactly assimilation, but rather the full respect of their identities. One way to teach tolerance and respect for others is to stress the equal dignity of citizens as autonomous and reasonable persons. (DD)
